Development of Biodegradable, Cellulose-Based, Essential Oil and Chitosan Drug Delivery Systems for Cosmetic Mask Applications

نویسندگان

چکیده

The goal of this research was the development cellulose-based biodegradable drug delivery systems solutions for cosmetic mask applications. Cellulose-based materials derived from natural renewable sources provide a sustainable alternative to nonwoven masks nondegradable fossil-based raw materials. An experimental design executed assemble 3D cellulose fibres matrix and water in oil emulsion comprising active molecules Mentha piperita L. Two types biopolymeric additives were used, one nano/micro fibrillated pulp another including chitosan. A computational simulation study performed enhance porosity strength properties. results indicated that face optimized prototypes, made molecules, are suitable dermic use.

Biodegradable fumarate-based drug-delivery systems for ophthalmic applications.

The function of a photocrosslinked poly(propylene fumarate) (PPF)/poly(N-vinyl pyrrolidone) (PVP) matrix for the sustained release of three ophthalmic model drugs, acetazolamide (AZ), dichlorphenamide (DP), and timolol maleate (TM), was investigated. The drugs differ in molecular weight and degree of dissociation in aqueous environments; both are parameters that significantly influence drug dif...

Chitosan-based Drug Delivery Systems

The most important characteristics of chitosans, which make them useful as delivery vectors for drugs and therapeutic proteins, are their excellent mucoadhesive and absorption enhancing properties [1-3]. The mucoadhesion is due to the electrostatic interaction between the positive charge on the chitosan polymer and the negatively charged sialic acid residues on the mucosal surface [4]. Because ...

Development of new chitosan/carrageenan nanoparticles for drug delivery applications.

The use of polymeric nanoparticles, especially those composed of natural polymers, has become a very interesting approach in drug delivery, mainly because of the advantages offered by their small dimensions. The aim of this work was to develop a novel formulation of nanoparticles comprised of two natural marine-derived polymers, namely chitosan and carrageenan, and to evaluate their potential f...

Biodegradable Multiblock Copolymers for Drug Delivery Applications

Microspheres of a hydrophobic and a hydrophilic poly(ether-ester) copolymer were evaluated for their in-vitro and in-vivo biocompatibility and degradation. The microspheres prior to and after sterilization were tested for in-vitro cytotoxicity. The invivo biocompatibility of the poly(ethylene glycol) terephthalate and poly(butylene terephthalate) (PEGT/PBT) microspheres was evaluated subcutaneo...

Biodegradable Cellulose-based Hydrogels: Design and Applications

Hydrogels are macromolecular networks able to absorb and release water solutions in a reversible manner, in response to specific environmental stimuli. Such stimuli-sensitive behaviour makes hydrogels appealing for the design of ‘smart’ devices, applicable in a variety of technological fields. In particular, in cases where either ecological or biocompatibility issues are concerned, the biodegra...
